About

The tl;dr Version

I’m currently a fourth year (my, how time has flown) UC Berkeley Political Economy major with a concentration in China and Globalization. Additionally, I’m interested in marketing, graphic design, and, well, the internet. I’ve been an on and off blogger/website designer since the good ol’ Geocities days, when iframes, Nova Boards, Greymatter ruled the teen blogging world.

This is my blog and portfolio site, where I’ll be posting about media, gaming, tech, and China, with a splash of political news and bits of my life.

Feel free to holla, poke me, or start deep conversations about the merits of cucumber rolls via any of these sites:

And now, the part that you’ll probably wish you tl;dred

This actually won’t be as long as the header suggests, since I am not fond of waxing poetics or anything of the sort, especially when talking about myself. As said above, I’m a Political Economy major at UC Berkeley and am planning to graduate in May 2010. You may be wondering why I chose said major since my interests lie mostly in marketing and the internet. God knows I’ve gotten enough “Political Economy? Doesn’t that mean you should… go into government or non-profits?” remarks throughout the years. Even though I’m a Political Economy major, I’ve taken a number of business courses and am currently involved with the Undergraduate Marketing Association.

I’ve been into graphic and web design since I got my hands on a copy of Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 back in junior high (yes, this was in the good ol’ Geocities days). I mostly messed around with creating layouts for my personal weblogs, which ranged from subdomains to Simply-Because.org. I began vexelling soon after, especially once I learned to properly use the pen tool in Photoshop.

Now, I still vexel and vector in my spare time, but am becoming more interested in the role of graphic design in the media. With my major concentration in China and Globalization, I enjoy learning about marketing and advertising from regional and global perspectives. Perhaps someday I may go into government to work in international espionage while donning Ray Bans, but for now, I’m simply a UC Berkeley student who loves marketing, cucumber rolls, and Chipotle.
