2023 Gift Guide: Personal Favorites

Happy official holiday season! Hope you are having a nice weekend with loved ones and some leisurely shopping. It’s been a few years since my last gift guide, so here is a refreshed one that mostly consists of personal tried and true items, with a sprinkling of newer additions.

First things first — for those who celebrate Christmas, advent season is upon is yet again. I’ve been looking into eco-friendly advent calendars, and have found several on Etsy to fit all types: from a simple wall hang, to cute reusable village cardboard houses, to this incredibly cool (but also $$$$) and intricate wooden home.

Creative Crafts

audreyokeya’s illustrated sticker sheets and washi tapes are so cute, with great variety and for every season. My bullet journal is adorned with several of her stickers.

Each year, I gift my mother a new calendar – and there are a ton to choose from on Etsy. I ended up purchasing one with watercolor shops, though it was a closet call with these travel destinations and vintage illustration calendars.

ColleCreative does a wonderful job with custom watercolor paintings. Two years ago I commissioned one of our childhood home for my parents, and they loved it. Unfortunately, the timing is tight now for Christmas gifting – but it is well worth the wait, as she actually provides a physical watercolor, hence the slightly higher pricepoint.

This needlepoint kit from JessLongEmbroidery is beautifully tongue in cheek. I have not yet tried myself – but I would love to in the future!

Last but not least for the crafter or sewist in your life, these scissors are beautiful: Stork Scissors (20% off with code SHOPSMALL) and Prism Snips Scissors (25% off) – I’ve been admiring both, but can’t bring myself to get them as they aren’t a “necessity”. Making them the perfect gift!

Small & Sweet

Delicate yet fun gold plated jewelry from MAIVEshop; to this day, I’m still wearing the earrings I picked up from her booth at Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco years ago!

For something a little fancier, FerkosFineJewelry has a great selection of dainty 14K solid gold jewelry. I purchased this necklace earlier this year, and it has been on consistent rotation!

Keychains and enamel pins are the perfect stocking stuffer – I’m currently using this California keychain, though was also eyeing this leather Monstera leaf, floral letters and hugging cats.

For something even smaller, these NYC, lazy cat, and snarky pins look great.

The Boardroom

For the Costco aficionado, this Costco Monopoly is perfect – the artist Chuck Dillon did an incredible job with all the details. We immediately picked this up when we spotted it at our local Costco!

On the fancier end of the spectrum, this gorgeous Anthropologie Monopoly is currently 30% off for Black Friday. It’s expensive, but also beautiful enough to leave out as “decor”, in between plays.

This **Bookshelf Edition Scrabble** is also very aesthetic, at a more palatable price point. It folds up into an eye-pleasing hardcover book sized case, and also comes in other games as well.

& Everything Else

From Quince, you can’t go wrong with their Apple watch bands – I’ve been really pleased with my leather one so far. The cashmere baseball cap is a big hit amongst several of my family members.

For the magically inclined, I love my Chocolate Frog Crewneck from CoastalDazeCo; she has several other Harry Potter designs, which are made to order. At this time, it may come in after Christmas – but is well worth the wait!

A faster gift option: MinaLima’s illustrated Harry Potter books. MinaLima consists of duo Miraphora and Eduardo, who created the visual graphic design for all of the Harry Potter films! They also have a ton of cool prints on their website – I picked up this Chamber of Secrets print when on the studio tour earlier this summer.
