Quince Linen Review: His, Hers & Home

Quince Linen Review

Above: The perfect travel shirt!

While the past month has felt more like spring than summer, warmer temps above 80F are now finally on the horizon. This means one thing: linen weather is here.

Personally, I love linen in any season – it’s an organic, thermoregulating material that can help keep you cool in summers, and actually keep you warm in transitional months as well. Most of the linen items in my closet are simple sewing projects (pattern reviews here). However, I was looking for a nice, basic linen button down for my husband and I, and decided to try out the highly rated Quince versions. To cover the full gamut, I threw in a linen sheet set for our guest room twin bed as well.

Items featured in today’s review:

Men’s European Linen Short Sleeve Shirt

At $29.90, this shirt is such a steal. Originally purchased this in a size large based on their size chart, but had to exchange for a size medium, which now fits perfectly. For reference, my husband is 5’10” and ~180lb with an athletic build (broad shoulders, slimmer waist in comparison). The material is soft, and did not shrink after washing and tumble drying on low. This makes a great summer gift, and at this price point, you could buy a set of two!

As an aside, this was my first time exchanging an item with Quince. It was a seamless process, though it is more traditional where they send the replacement only after receiving the original. All in all, this took about three weeks – we weren’t in a rush, so this was fine.

Bonus: While advertised as a men’s shirt, ladies and theydies can certainly wear this as well. I’ve more recently been drawn to the oversized short-sleeve look, and the medium fits the bill there.

Excuse the gloomy lighting, it’s been a strange few weeks of California weather

Women’s Linen Long Sleeve Shirt

Long-sleeved shirts are now a staple outer layer for me during warmer months. In particular, I love that linen can be layered in even the most sweatiest weather, and still be breathable. Based on the reviews, I opted to order this in a Size Medium for a slightly oversized look. I would highly recommend ordering at least 1, if not 2 sizes larger for an oversized look. If you’re looking to wear this as a tucked-in shirt, then I would recommend your usual size or 1 larger.

Overall, this is a classic shirt – you can’t go wrong with the $39.90 prize point as well. Unless I’m searching for a specific colorway or origin material, I can safely say that Quince will be my go-to for linen button downs.

100% Linen Sheet Set

Lastly, I decided to try out their linen sheets for the twin bed in our office-guest combo room. We previously had some very old dark grey sheets from Target, and wanted to brighten the room up with a more lightweight material and color. I opted for the in Desert Sun, which is a relaxing, muted coral in the “fitted sheet set”, a more minimalist set excluding a flat sheet (which we never use).

Unlike the shirts, these sheets come pre-washed – so they were already somewhat soft upon arrival. After giving them another wash, they softened up a little more. At first use, they feel great – I think the question will be how they continue to last over time and use. The only ding here: the twin size fitted sheet seems to run large, particularly in length. When placing it on, I had to do a few rounds of aggressive tucking to get them to lie somewhat smooth.

Quince Linen Sheets Review

Are these comparable to Parachute linen sheets, which are more than double the price? I’ve previously reviewed Parachute, and in fact, we are currently using them on our primary bed today. Our Parachute linen is slightly softer, and has lasted well through ~2 years of usage.

At the very least, I think the Quince version is well worth it if you’re dipping your toes into linen sheets and not ready to commit to a $200+ price tag. I’ll be sure to update this review as we use the Quince sheets more.

Final Verdict

So far, Quince’s linen products seem to hit that nice balance between value and quality. Unlike their $50 cashmere, I think these actually do live up to the hype and popularity.
