Hope your summer has been going well! It’s been a hot few weeks, but a welcome heat after the chilly June we had.
Watching
While I didn’t partake in the double feature Barbenheimer trend this past weekend, I did watch Oppenheimer, which was a fantastic cinematic experience. I’m a sucker for Christopher Nolan films, and this one didn’t disappoint.
Relatedly, I thought the NYTimes’ The Daily recent podcast “Can Barbie be Rebranded as a Feminist Icon?” was a great listen. I’m excited to Barbie this weekend, while donning the one piece of almost-pink clothing I own :)
If you’ve seen both and are looking for a new movie – I highly recommend Joy Ride if you can still find it in theaters. It’s entertaining, and raunchy, with a surprising amount of heart!
Shopping
There’s one more week left in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, which ends August 7th. I feel like the past few years have been a little more subdued in comparison to the big influencer pushes of yore, which were getting a bit much! I purchased these HOFF sneakers in Memphis, and am excited to wear them for fall Otherwise, not much else stood out to me except for this Supergoop sunscreen bundle and Allsaints leather jacket, both at great prices.
I’ve been giving Urban Outfitter’s Nuuly clothing rental a try and am on my second month. It’s been a fun way to mix things up for summer, without committing to any specific trends. I’ll be reviewing my experience soon! If you’re keen to try it out, you can use my referral link for $20 off (note: I’ll receive $20 as well).
Reading Listening
I’ve picked back up podcast listening recently, now that I’m spending more time commuting to the office in our hybrid-WFH world. Here are a few recent favorites that I recommend:
- NPR Planet Money’s 3-part series on making a podcast episode from AI: One, Two, and Three
- Other People’s Pockets: A series on how much people earn and spend, across a variety of professions and lifestyles
